About Ghost Towns In Oklahoma

Rediscovering
Oklahoma's
Past

My thirst for history began in 6th grade thanks to a teacher that made it interesting.  Shortly after moving to Oklahoma I ran across a book on ghost towns located in Oklahoma.  To my surprise it was not about hauntings, rather it was a historical collection of information about the old towns in Oklahoma.  Many of them no longer existed and some were either a shell of what they were and others a mixture of old buildings and new ones.

Like most history books from school this one was boring and didn't really tell the stories behind the towns, only the simplest of facts. A few months later I decided to visit a couple of the towns.  During those visits I found that some of the residents had been passing on stories from the early days for a couple generations.

Many of the towns no longer existed.  I quickly found that the town may no longer exist but the cemeteries still did. I learned in my youth that cemeteries have many stories to tell.

Over the next couple of years I visited more of the towns and combined my photography skills, passion for history and new found interest in writing to discover and hopefully tell the stories of these towns.
